Checking the Design

FloodFlow simulation
  • No flooding for 1-in-30 year return period. (2.6, 1)
  • Minimum diameter of 75 mm. Orifice or vortex control units or similar may be used. (2.8, 24)
  • Manholes shall not be further apart than 100 m. (2.13, 7)
  • Design event rainfall - most recent version of FEH. Allowance for climate change of 10% on rainfall intensities. (2.6, 6)
  • Check 1-in-100 year return period and 1-in-200 year return period to ensure properties on and off site are protected against flooding.
  • Demonstrate flow paths and the potential effects of flooding (2.6, 8)

Test the pipe network for the 30 year return period, and add flow controls and storage using Simulation. With Simulation APT you can run ‘wizards’ to identify the critical storms, add climate change and check the engineering criteria (Design Audit Wizard).

Identify manhole flooding with Simulation and with APT and FloodFlow demonstrate the detailed flood flow paths and effects of flooding on Plan and in 3D.
